On Thursday August 8th we are hosting a FREE event starring Independent MP Monique Ryan. With a federal election in the next 12 months, now is the time to start looking for alternatives to a two-party system that is failing so many of us.
Increased cost of living and housing shortages prevent so many of us living happy, healthy lives. Privatisation of public health, education and transport mean critical systems are falling short. Australia, one of the wealthiest countries in the world, isn't pulling our weight in the global fight to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
People simply no longer trust the two major parties to do what is necessary to improve the livelihoods of all Australians and the natural environment that supports us.

The evening will feature a keynote speech by Dr Monique Ryan and a panel discussion with the following speakers:
● Dr Monique Ryan, Dr Monique Ryan was elected to the federal seat of Kooyong in May 2022; the first woman and the first Independent to hold the seat. She was formerly Director of the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne Neurology Department, and a Professor of Medicine at Melbourne and Monash Universities. Dr Ryan is committed to action on climate change, integrity and transparency in government, evidence-based healthcare, and gender equity.
● Alex Dyson, Independent Candidate for Wannon in 2019 and 2022. Best known for his role hosting the Triple J national breakfast show from 2010-2016, Alex is a performer, small business owner and author based in Warrnambool.
● Phil Haines, founding and continuing member of Voices for Indi and campaign manager for the past four successful federal election campaigns in Indi for the Independent Members of Parliament - Cathy McGowan (2013 and 2016) and Helen Haines (2019 and 2022).
The event will be MCed by:
● Claire Ferres Miles, Independent Candidate for the federal electorate of Casey in 2022 with a policy focus on accelerated climate action, integrity and equity, with a values-led community campaign of 300 volunteers. Claire has lived in the Dandenong Ranges for 27 years with her husband, five children and their Australian Shepherd, Harley.
